AndNav2 is an application to access OpenStreetMap from an Androïd phone. In the last version, they've added an access to OpenStreetBugs. Thus, you can add annotations directly from the physical world :-)

Bugs that can't be closed/modified

Hi

There was some few bugs that could not be closed nor modified. This has been corrected for the already existing bugs. However, I have not yet corrected the source of these problems.

Since November the 15, the Andnav project has included OpenStreetBugs in its website, resulting in a traffic increase. Contrary to the previous links in some articles, Andnav provides a constant traffic of users. These users come from the USA (Andnav is an androïd project, and the androïd phone is only available in the USA).

Last Thursday, a great article has been published on magnus.de. It describes OpenStreetMap and a lot of services and applications that gravitate around it.

Thus, a lot of new bugs have been added in Germany this week-end.

Well...

There have been other problems today, with the markers.
It seems that the OpenLayers team was doing some little changes this week-end with the API of demonstration... yes, OpenStreetBugs used to use the API of demonstration from OpenLayers. This could seems strange but their API of demo was less buggy than their official API.

New :
- OpenStreetBugs should load much faster ;
- Strange new bugs could happen anytime (hipee yeah !).

Hi

Adding comments was not working since this morning.
Because I coded AJAX requests like a pork (the script does not wait for an acknowledgment from the server), you could think that it was working. After you reloaded the page, the added comments disappeared. I'm sorry if it ruined your work of today.

The bug is crushed now.

Hi all,

The latest change in OpenStreetBugs is quite old now. Sorry for that.
Anyway, there is a regular traffic (~150 visitors a day) and a lot of bugs added and corrected (~10000 editions a month).

I made two things tonight :

It is now possible to view some bugs at low zoom.
These bugs are the 20 last modified bugs and the 20 last closed bugs on your frame (not really but the exact explanation is boring). When you zoom in, this number increases up to 80.
If there is more than 80 bugs in your area... well... fix some.

So... because of the possibility to view some bugs with a low zoom, the default view is no more the greatest city in the World (Rennes - Fr). I set it to a portion of Europe. Sorry New Zealand.

I have dumped the OpenStreetBugs data in a big GPX file.
This is a backup...
And also a way to reassure some users : the data from OpenStreetBugs is open.
And also a big toy... (Does somebody love to make graphics ?)

Because of an old bug and its new side effect, OpenStreetBugs is not working well since a few hours: it's almost impossible to add a bug. I'll correct this bug as soon as possible. The side effect can disappear at anytime.

The golem's storm has passed.
There have been some quota problems during the first hours of peak traffic. Thanks to AJAX, this was almost invisible for the users. The traffic has slowly decreased, and now, this is calm.

I made some small optimizations in the server-side code to consume less CPU.

This new kind of users was encouraging. Since now, this was mappers, who know how to map. This recent traffic was essentially non-mappers adding information in plain text about their own knowledge (name of street, restaurant, etc.). Near 1000 bugs have been put in the last 24 hours (essentially in Germany). Now, we've got a lot of work to correct them! :-)

OpenStreetBugs has been golemed.

Golem.de is a German tech news site which seems to have a great traffic. This morning, they put a news about OpenStreetBugs.... and I fear OSB will be down in a few hours due to quota explosion.

I changed a lot of little things :
- GeoRSS feeds ;
- Permalink, markers-links ;
- closed marks are now visible for a week ;
- many tiny improvements concerning the GUI ;
- and many little bugs corrected.

Opening OpenStreetBugs

Have you ever wanted to convert a friend to OpenStreetMap ? A friend who has some good advices, a good knowledge of the streets... but who do not want to create an account, learn to use JOSM or Potlatch, and learn tags...

I made OpenStreetBugs for this. No account, very simple, very light. This is a simple tool for everybody to annotate OpenStreetMap.

Then, mappers can :
- open Potlatch centered on a note
- download a GPX dump of the visible notes to load in JOSM (or in your GPS)
- discuss about bugs
- etc...

Thanks to OpenLayers developers for their fantastic job.
